GCC5 is an environment prepared to generate libc 5
binaries in a glibc 2.x system. It is built around gcc
2.7.2.1. This is a clean way to generate binaries
needed by old apps (even commercial ones)
compiled with libc5 without having to be in a libc5
based system.
