It can often be avoided by manually setting the swap partition.
If the swap partition is /dev/sdX, try enabling swap manually with the following command.
sudo mkswap /dev/sdX
sudo swapon /dev/sdX
Also, with the calamares installer running, try to disqualify it from the OOM killer (forced exit) with the following command.
pidof calamares | xargs -n1 sudo choom -n -1000 -p
