aim2irc lets you control an IRC session from your AIM client. It was written specifically for use on a Hiptop.

Instant Messaging Database Admin (ODBC) runs on the SDBA Revolution IM
App Server and allows you to view DB metadata and run SQL statements
via IM (AIM) for any database with an ODBC connection. It saves
multiple connections.

joscar is an extensible Java library for instant messaging using the AOL Instant Messenger OSCAR protocol. joscar is the only open-source implementation of AIM 5.2 Secure IM, the AOL Proxy Server and Get File protocols, Trillian SecureIM, and more.

Jaim is a Java library that implements the AOL TOC
Instant Messaging protocol. The intention of Jaim
is to simplify the creation of AIM "bots" in Java.

ptyaim is a small text-based chat client with a
curses interface. It features a small UI and a
plugin interface, and it comes with protocol
plugins for OSCAR (AIM/ICQ) and IRC.

SimpleAIM is a miniature console-based AIM client
written in pure Java. It implements the TOC
protocol and provides a solid framework for
understanding and writing your own IM clients or bots.

Push Puppet Toy is a computer-controlled puppet
that stands to attention when a friend joins an
IRC channel or comes online on IM, and collapses
when he leaves. The concept is very similar to the
Availabot (http://availabot.com/), but works under
Linux. Schematics, firmware for the puppet, and
plugins for Gaim and XChat to control the puppet
are provided.

Gaim Popupwin is a plugin which shows a mini window in a corner of the
screen when a buddy logs in to any account (like MSN Messenger does). It
shows an icon with the protocol used.

SuckerPipe is a client-based proxy for AOL Instant
Messenger communication. Arbitrary connections
can be made between screen names, two users can be
piped together, and messages may be sent to users.

im_narrator provides text-to-speech and speech-
to-text services for instant messaging clients for
the blind (and others). It currently supports AIM,
MSN, ICQ, Exodus, Jabber Messenger, and Meca on
Win32, and Adium X on Mac OS X. Ports to other
platforms are planned.

wmmsg is a dockapp that informs you of new events,
such as incoming chat messages, by displaying
related icons and arrival times. It works with
Pidgin, X-Chat, etc. It can be used to notify you
of various other system events.

Gaim for Qtopia is an official port of the Gaim instant messenger. It
is a multi-protocol instant messaging client for the Qtopia and OPIE
embedded environments, compatible with the AIM (using the Oscar
protocols), ICQ, MSN Messenger, Yahoo!, IRC, Jabber, Gadu-Gadu,
Napster, and Trepia networks.

OpenGaim is an instant messaging or "text chat" client capable of
communicating over many protocols, including Jabber, AOL Instant
Messenger (AIM), ICQ, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, Internet Relay
Chat (IRC), and more. It is a loose relative of the Gaim project and
contains much of the source code in Gaim itself. However, OpenGaim
aims to provide quicker releases to fix major problems, and advanced
customization options and features not available in Gaim.

JavaBot is a chat bot for the AOL Instant Messenger, MSN Messenger,
and Yahoo! messenger systems. It is designed to attempt to engage in
conversation with people via IM. It supports such features as remote
administration and full conversation logging. There is also a mechanism
for eavesdropping on conversations other people are having with the bot.
All administration is handled over IM, allowing remote administration.
Using a simple scripting language, the bot's conversational responses
can be modified to taste.
