dpypi is aimed to offer an alternative for PyPI with easy support of Sourceforge.net, OSDN.net, Bitbucket.org, GitHub.com, and others, while still providing PyPI.org.
It supports more freedom and project name safety with much more flexible project allocation and though hierarchical namespaces. The most of the restrictions and oddities posed by PEP-541 are thus obsoleted.
The project will also adapt installers and libraries for the common tools setuptools/distutils, pip and twine. It is a major goal too to streamline the APIs and offer all essential interfaces as public interfaces.
