As noted on ticket #44470, the current GDB-9.2 release has trouble debugging any application which has been compiled, and linked, by tools based on versions of GNU binutils, which are more recent than binutils-2.32 — or maybe, but untested, binutils-2.33.50. Thus, to permit progression to a newer binutils release, (e.g. binutils-2.38), a newer release of GDB — say GDB-12.1 — seems desirable.
