OpenXSpell aims to bring comprehensive and
flexible open source spell checking to the Mac OS
X platform. The project was born of a frustration
with the limitations of the native AppleSpell
spell checking service which provides support for
only a very limited number of languages.
OpenXSpell makes use of the excellent Enchant
library, which makes it possible to use a number
of different spell checking back-ends, including
Aspell, ISpell, MySpell, and Hunspell.
