Working on this, but it's *slow*. Sometimes going forward one commit in the commit history requires checking what's the relevant format like in S3_0 (to which we should compare), in that particular point in S3_1 history that the commit represents, and in the current S3_1 HEAD.
This is an early warning that we may have to make S3_1-alpha3 without this documentation being up-to-date.

Ticket details:
When we enter S3_1 d3f, we should have wiki documents about updating from 3.0 formats to 3.1 ones up to date.
With earlier branches we've managed to keep those relatively well updated as the development has been going, but with S3_1 they have been falling behind. Arguably "ruleset" document (the big one) is not as critical any more now that we have the automatic ruleset update support, but I think many people still rely on that document.
For 3.2, we have not yet even created the documents, a year after branching S3_1.
