Ticket for tracking progress toward switching to crosser-2.4.
I had hoped that we could live with crosser-2.3 for some time before going through the release and update round for crosser-2.4, but it might be that we need the new version for meson-0.62.1 (or newer) in it. While trying to build up installer_cross + Qt6 support, I've encountered problems like those mentioned in #44723, so maybe we need the new versions before that work can go forward.
- crosser-2.4 has also FLAC support in sdl2-mixer already, in case anyone wants to provide musicset using that format (I think we already support in all the major environments)
- There's development on readline support front, but especially if we need to cut release soon, that's not likely to be ready by crosser-2.4
