Jebi allows users to record AM or FM radio, TV, or
other audio content to an MP3 stream and to
publish this stream automatically as a podcast
channel via RSS. The result is a Tivo-like
capability for radio. Tuner cards are supported.

Sweep is an audio editor and live playback tool. It supports many music and voice formats including WAV, AIFF, Ogg Vorbis, Speex, and MP3, with multichannel editing and LADSPA effects plugins. Inside lives a pesky little virtual stylus called Scrubby who enjoys mixing around in your files.

The Snack sound extension adds commands for sound play/record and sound visualization, e.g. waveforms and spectrograms. It supports in- memory sound objects, file based audio, streaming audio, WAV, AU, AIFF, and MP3 file formats, synchronous and asynchronous playback. The visualization canvas item types update in real-time and can output postscript. New commands and file formats can be added using the Snack C-API.

Sound-Rec-Ed provides simple GUIs to record and
edit sound files, similar to operating a
tape-deck. Buttons start and stop recording or
break incoming audio into separate files. It can
cut sections from audio files or join files. It
saves files in WAV, OGG, or MP3 format.

erec is a tool program for recording raw audio
stream from the soundcard. Multiple instances of
erec can be running at the same time sharing the
same audio device. It works as a frontend to the
audio device for programs wishing to listen at the
same time.

TCDR is a dialog-based console frontend for mkisofs, cdrecord, cdrdao, mkzftree, cdparanoia, cdda2wav, bladeenc, lame, oggenc, ogg123, mpg123, and sox written in bash.

klick is an advanced JACK-based metronome,
supporting tempo changes, meter changes, and more.
It allows you to define complex tempo maps for
entire songs or performances.

PD (Pure Data) is a real-time graphical programming environment for audio, video, and graphical processing. It is the third major branch of the family of patcher programming languages known as Max (Max/FTS, ISPW Max, Max/MSP, jMax, etc.).

TSE3 (Trax Sequencer Engine v3) is a powerful open source sequencer engine written in C++. It is a sequencer engine because it provides the actual driving force elements of a sequencer but provides no form of user interface.

fIcy is a command line icecast/shoutcast stream
grabber. Its goal is to cleanly and automatically
rip a stream into user-customizable files. It will
work with any ICY-compatible stream, allowing you
to either to save the stream to disk, pipe the
output to a media player, or both.

GNoise is a GTK+ based wave file editor. It uses a display cache and a double-buffered display for maximum speed with large files. It supports common editing functions such as cut, copy, paste, fade in/out, normalize, and more, with unlimited undo.

MusE is a multitrack virtual studio for Linux. It supports real-time editing of both MIDI and audio in an integrated environment. It has support for LADSPA and DSSI plugins (with Win VST support), JACK, and ALSA-MIDI output and input as well as internal softsynths. Numerous MIDI editors are available, including a piano roll, score editor, and drum editor.
There is full automation for both MIDI and audio.

Frinika is a free, complete music workstation
program for Linux, Windows, Mac OS X Tiger, and
other operating systems running Java 1.5
(J2SE5.0). It features a sequencer, soft-synths,
real-time effects, and audio recording.
